From the hive...

Headoverhive  IS SPRING BREAK HERE YET?!  Just kidding!  Really...I'm "head over  hive" for them!  Haha!

SOPE CREEK FAMILY BRAVES NIGHT!

Join your friends and neighbors for a night of Braves baseball! Our Sope Creek Chorus has been invited to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" on Friday, April 18th. Mark your calendar now and join us for a fun-filled evening!

We have blocked off a section of seats just for Sope Creek families. Tickets will be on sale from March 24-April 4th. Tickets will be $15 each. Turn in order form and check to Mrs. Carter in 4th grade.

Thank you for checking and signing your child's multiplication and division 5-minute practice drills each night.  This practice is going to help with speed and accuracy.  Beginning this Friday, I will give a "real" 5-minute drill to check myself.  Any student who makes a 90% or better will be exempt from the daily practice drills.  Thanks for your help on this!

Also, I will begin to send home practice exercises on paper for the CRCT.  The tests online are great; however, a lot of students have completed those and the real test is, of course, on paper.

Have a very nice weekend.  Attached is next week's newsletter:Download mar31newsletter.doc

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Monthofmarch Fun Run is this weekend!!  It's not too late to register.  If you haven't seen the class baskets in the Media Center that will be auctioned on Saturday, you should make a trip up  here to see them!  You won't be able to resist placing a bid on at least one of them.  Thank you so much to all who contributed to these incredible arrangements!!  They are beautiful.  I just had to bid on two or three, myself!  Bidding closes at 12:00 noon on Saturday.  Better hurry.  And a special "THANK YOU" to Mrs. Holt for putting it all together.  We appreciate you!

Be on the lookout for your child's report card.  It will come home on Thursday next week!  Please sign and return the signature card inside the envelope.

Also, our class field trip to the Fernbank Museum is next week.  Please send in a heavy snack that day, as we will not return until around 1:00 pm and we will be having lunch at that time (in the classroom).  Your child may either purchase a sack lunch for that day or bring in one from home.  Don't worry what you checked on the permission slip.  I will take another count in class that morning.

Have a wonderful weekend!  Hope to see you Saturday morning at the Fun Run.  Attached is the newsletter for next week, March 17-21. Download mar17newsletter.doc

"Spring Ahead "(this weekend!!)

Shamrock Yes, that's right!  This weekend it's time to "spring forward"!

The following is a list of additional reminders:

Papa John's Pizza Night is next Tuesday, March 11.  By ordering pizza and returning  your receipt with your child the next day earns our school $$$, AND allows you to take the evening off from making dinner!

Flute_2                            The students will begin the study of the wind instrument, the recorder in Music, beginning the week of March 24th.  Students will be learning the fundamentals of music notation while having fun!  Students are encouraged to purchase his or her own recorder.  This runs around $10 and can be found at either Draisen Edwards, on Lower Roswell Road, Music and Arts Center on Johnson Ferry Road, or at your favorite music store.

Wednesday, March 19, the third grade students will be traveling to Fernbank Museum for a school field trip!  We will be attending the IMAX there.  Please remember to send in your child's permission slip if you have not done so.  We will be returning to the school at approximately 1:00pm, at which time we will have lunch.  Be sure to send in a heavy snack that morning for your child, as our lunch that day is later than our normal time.  Thanks!

I sincerely appreciate each and every parent who has given to our class in so many different ways over the year!  On Tuesday, March 18, at our regularly scheduled lunch time (11:50-12:20), the school will be hosting a luncheon in the Media Center for you!!  Invitations will be in your child's yellow folder this Friday.  I would love for each of you to attend!!  Your invitation asks for the number of guests, so please RSVP and return.  Again, THANK YOU for all you have done for our class all year!

Have a great weekend.  Attached is the newsletter for the week of March 10-14.  Download mar10newsletter.doc
