WEEK 28

ACADEMICS:

Language Arts:

We will continue to take a break from our reading series this week.  We will be doing alternative stories from the Reading Book.

         We continue to work on:

1.Decoding Words using Dots and Dashes  2.  Comprehension  3.  Fluent Reading  4.  Fact vs. Fiction

        5.  REVIEW LANGUAGE ARTS SKILLS:  Nouns, Adjectives, -ed & -ing endings, contractions

Spelling will be given every Thursday.  :)   There will be NO Comprehension Class tests this week.  Thank you!

Math: Place Value (Ones/Tens/Hundreds) and Money

Homelinks:  Work with your child at home "pretending" to buy things from the "store".  This will help as your child learns to exchange money out.  We will be working with coins and dollars, so anything that you can do would be a HUGE help to your child's learning.

**Math Timed Test are given on Thursdays. **

Writing:

           Poems  (Learning different types)

Science:  Plants/ Parts of Plants

Center Work:

The children have been given different learning centers each week that go along with what we are learning. They will bring their packet home on Thursday or Friday depending on when they finish their work. Please make sure you check over their work with them.  We are checking daily on their progress, and are signing off on their center chart when they are finished.  If you see our initials next to the circle they have completed their work.  You will also see comments on these sheets to let the children know what they need to work on when they are coming to have us check off on their center chart.  We are taking grades on this work.  The children are aware of this, and we wanted to make sure that you are aware of this too.  Center work allows children to become more responsible in getting their work finished in a more real world setting.  We have multiple leveled assignments at each station to challenge each student at their own ability level.

Homework:

Please continue to make sure your child is doing homework nightly Monday through Thursday.  We do check to see that homework is done daily.

** We will also be sending some practice CRCT packets home on Fridays the next few weeks.  We hope that you will take the time to talk with your children about these practice packets and to go over them with your children.  This will help the children as they prepare for the CRCT in April.  Thanks!**

PIZZA NIGHTS:

SAVE THE DATES:

  • LOOPING NOTES:

On Friday, March 21st, notes were sent home to all of our students about Ms. Yarnot and Mrs. Jollands looping up with our class.  We wanted to assure all parents not to worry about sending these back to us.  We both have discussed the situation, and realize not everyone will want this option for their child.  We just want to reassure you that if you choose not to loop, it does not hurt our feelings.  Every child is different, every situation unique, so please know that whatever you and your family decide is best for your child is fine with us.  We hope to have these back by Friday, March 28, 2007.  Thanks!

  • CLASSROOM NEEDS
If you haven't sent in your bag of Skittles, please do so as soon as possible.  We have gotten a pretty good response from this.  Thank you SO much for your continued help and support.
