Hi all!
We had a wonderful week this week and are looking forward to another busy, but great week next week. In Math, we will be moving onto geometry. This chapter is a fun chapter, however there is A LOT of vocabulary. I will be sending home a sheet with vocabulary terms for you to review at home. We will be using our lifeskill of creativity by doing quite a bit of drawing to understand these terms. We will also be body mapping to help us understand. By the end of the week, we will be having a scavenger hunt around the school to see where these shapes and terms are in our real world. Throughout the week, we will also continue to review material from the beginning of this 9 weeks because we will be taking our benchmark tests soon.
Today we took our Frederick Douglass test and I will be grading them over the weekend. Just at a quick glance, it looks like they did great! Next week, we will be moving onto Paul Revere. We will be learning all about his famous ride and will be recreating it.
In Language Arts, we will be working on adjectives and then moving onto prefixes, suffixes and root words. We will be using our dictionary skills to practice all of these and will be adding them to our writing to make it even better. In writing, we will be finishing up our letter to Uncle Ben from a Shel Silverstein poem adn will then move onto another response.
I have had several requests from parents about IOWA and CogAt test scores. They should be given out to teachers next week. As soon as I receive them, I will make sure they come home to you. Thank you for being patient!
I hope all of you have a great weekend! The weather is supposed to be gorgeous!
