What an amazing job you did today! The newscast is AMAZING! You all gave your personal best and really showed your knowledge of how to say no to drugs, alcohol and tobacco. You should be very proud of yourselves. Ms. Appleyard and J.T. Maloney worked very hard to put together our newscast. Please tell them thank you if you see them. Thank you also to Mrs. Villarreal who brought in a great background for our anchorwomen. She also took pictures while we were doing the newcast. She got some great pictures!

Next Week

Vipers,

We had a wonderful week this week and are looking forward to another busy and fun week next week. Please remember next week is conference week so we will be dismissing at 12:20 each day. Please send in transportation changes if needed.

Since next week we have shorted days, our schedule will change as well. Specials will be at 9:00 and our lunch will be at 11:26.

 

Next week we will be finishing up our scripts for our newscast and will hopefully we filming on Thursday. That is our goal. Also next week, we are going to be making our own board games. Because I have been told by many that multiplication is boring, we are going to make it more fun. :) Each student will make their own board game on a poster board. Please do not worry about buying one. I will go this weekend and get one for each student using our wonderful Boosterthon money. This weekend, your child needs to look at different board games around your house to get ideas because on Monday we will begin brainstorming what their board game will look like. The questions in order to move around the board will focus on multiplication, word problems, multiplication properties and much more. We will be combining our art smarts with our number smarts. As we learn a topic, the students will be adding new questions to their game boards.

We will also begin our new writing focus which will be Response to Literature. We will go through examples together to show how to respond to literature. The Vipers have an advantage too because they have been doing this with their reading log assignment already!

Fluency and expression are another focus for the Vipers, so next week each of your children will be given a Halloween or spooky poem to read. This will be done at home. Each Viper needs to practice their poem and be ready to present it to the class using fluency (reading smoothly and at a good pace) and expression (voice). If your Viper wants to add props or dress up or whatever other ideas they have, that would be great too. I will explain the directions to them on Monday and will send it home as well for you to read.

So as you can see, we are going to be very busy next week but also having a lot of fun.

Conference Week

Just a friendly reminder that next week is conference week, so there will be early dismissal. We will have specials earlier as well as lunch. Dismissal will be at 12:20. I look forward to seeing all of you next week and talking about all of the great progress being made!

During conference week, we will also be having the bookfair. Look for information coming home Friday to show you all of the great books! Another exciting event during conference week is Red Ribbon Week. We will be having different activities each day. Information will be come home soon!

Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night Tuesday!

Please join us for our monthly Chick-fil-A Spirit Night on Tuesday, 10/18, any time between 5pm and 8pm!

While we dine and socialize, we will also be working on writing letters to service men and women as a part of The Bert Show's Big Thank You!  We will have paper and pencils available, and you will leave the letters with us.  We will make sure the letters get delivered.  More information on The Big Thank You, click here. 

Our goal is to have Sope Creek submit at least 1,100 letters!!!  If you would like to write letters at home, you are welcome to have your child bring them to the front office before October 26th.  They must be hand-written on 8.5 x 11'' paper and contain no political messages.

Thank you for supporting our school (a percentage of all proceeds help to fund field trips and staff development) and for supporting our troops!

The Vipers have really used the LIFESKILL of patience and perseverance this week with testing. They are ready for it to be done. Tomorrow is our last day. YEAH!!

Thank you so much for sending in all of your empty containers of food. We will be sorting them this afternoon and then begin our immersion wall. I really appreciate all of the great support you have given us! Also, please help remind your child to bring their food recording sheet back to school tomorrow. We will be making tally marks to see how much we ate of each food group. We will then take that information and display it in a graph.

During Math, we use dry erase boards quite a bit and we seem to be short of erasers. If you have an old sock you can send in with your child, that would be great. It is a perfect eraser and a great way to use up old socks!

I am headed out of town Friday afternoon, so I will be taking a half day. I didn't want to miss testing, so I will be leaving at about 11:00. We will do our best to get papers put in folders before I leave, but if we run out of time, I will make sure papers come home on Monday.
