I hope you had a chance to play outside this weekend. It was beautiful!
The children did an exceptional job on their research reports and projects for our unit on the regions and habitats of Georgia! On Monday, they will share their research papers before a special guest! They may come as they are, dress up, or wear a costume or bring a prop to support what they researched.
Language Arts: Reading to learn - distinguishing between and identifying theme and main idea/author's purpose, listing supporting evidence, inferring, revealing author's tone, and forming a personal opinion with valid support. We are continuing to study subject/predicate agreement, complex sentences, and narrative writing.
Reading: Remember to complete at least 3 book/reading/listening reports a month. They can be based on books, newspapers, articles, videos, television show, magazines, etc. Reading logs are due by the close of each month. The Six Flags reading log is due in March.
Social Studies: Mary Mcleod Bethune
Math: Reviewing plane shapes, area, perimeter, equivalent fractions, elapsed time. Please check their homework daily and save all homework (especially story problems) for reinforcement and review. Please study multiplication, addition, and subtraction math facts daily!
Health: Cardiovascular System
Valentine's day - Thursday, February 14th - Please bring in valentine cards for each student and a small decorated box with a slit on top for the cards. Each student is to write a short but creative description of their box on a slip of paper. Do not put your name on the box or description. Detailed directions have been sent home in their binders.
Class Supplies: We are in desperate need of pencils, tissues, paper towels, and Clorox Wipes. Thank you in advance for your help!
