Toucan Talk - Week 4

Math: Fourth graders will continue to work on place value and numeration while the fifth grade class will continue working on data analysis - collecting, organizing and interpreting data.

 

English/ Language Arts:  Fourth graders will begin a novel study on Tales of A Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume. Fifth graders will complete their novel study on Fudge - A - Rama by Judy Blume.

 

Science: 5th graders will continue to learn about cells and cell functions as well as how cells, tissues, organs and systems relate.

Boosterthon
We are looking forward to the Boosterthon Fun Run this week, Thursday, Sept-03-09.  Parents, you are encouraged to come out and cheer on your runner. Fourth and fifth grade fun run schedules are specified below:

 

* 10:35 – 11:45 : All 3rd and 4th (Carter, Jenkins, Seymour,Wyckoff)

* 11:45 – 12:55: All 5th and 4th (Moschetta, Sebren, Pfaff)

Open House
September 1st:  PTA Meeting 6:45 pm.  Open House for 1st and 2nd grades.

A great first week!

We had a great first week. I enjoyed getting to know all the new toucans and getting re- acquainted with a few old faces as well. Next week we will begin in earnest with our academic studies.  Parents please make sure that students have a folder, paper, and pencils daily. Additionally, we would appreciate donations of the following items: anti - bacterial hand sanitizer, airwick scented oils, Clorox wipes. Have a wonderful weekend!

Welcome!

My name is Terri Toomer  and I am so excited that your child will be a Toucan this year. This is my second year of teaching at Sope Creek Elementary, and my tenth year of teaching overall. I am originally from Miami, Florida, where I received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and a Master’s degree in Special Education.  I am currently working towards my doctorate degree in Special Education and Leadership.

I look forward to getting to know both you and your child. We will work hard this year and students will achieve much in terms of academic growth, greater self-confidence, and improved social skills.  

 Toucans, enjoy the last weekend of summer vacation and get ready for a fun filled year of learning and exploration.
