Today is Thursday, December 22,2011.

We had a wonderful day. Our holiday party was perfect. Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Burns and Mrs.Gower for organizing an amazing party. The children had a wonderful time making the blankets, picture frames, snowman shirts, and turtle cupcakes!!! We had so many wonderful parents helping too.

School is out until January 10, 2012. The teachers will return on Monday for a work day. The grading period ended on December 22. We will begin the 3rd quarter when we return. Report cards will go out January 13.

Thank you for the many beautiful cards and gifts. I appreciate your kindness.

Today is Wednesday.

We took an end of chapter test in Math. The papers are in their folder. We will take the Cobb County benchmark when we return from the holidays.

We have alot of work in our folders. Please take things out. If the December is Fun is not finished they may do it over the break.

Our holiday party is after lunch on Thursday. It will begin at 11:15 and end at 12:30. We will go to PE afterwards. Please make sure you sent a white shirt for your child to decorate at the party. It will be a fun day!

No school on Friday. Their next day is January 10,2012!!!.

Today is December 19, 2011.

The children wrote weekend news. A big shopping, birthday party, making stuff, and basketball weekend.They will read them aloud on Tuesday.

We have a visiting author on Tuesday. Mrs. Howard (Kindergarten teacher) will read her book in the morning.  Then after lunch we have a special reader ..Miss Cobb County will read a story to our class.An exciting time.

We will take the end of quarter benchmark test in math this week. This is a first grade Cobb County test. Our grading period will end on Thursday.

We have Art on Tuesday. PE on Wednesday and Thursday.

Our holiday party is after lunch on Thursday. Remember to send in a white shirt to paint. Put their name inside.

No school on Friday....no homework this week.

Today is Thursday.

I will not be here on Friday. My youngest daughter will graduate fron UGA in Early Childhoood Education on Friday. A teacher like her Mom! Now I hope she can find a job. All 3 girls will have graduated from college.YEA...time does fly by, they were just in Kindergarten!

Homework is due on Friday. Mrs. Mitchell will grade it . She will be in charge with a substitute. The spelling test will be given in the morning.

I have sent home more spelling dictation sentences to practice.

 There is also a vocabulary list to practicethroughout the year. See how quickly they can say the words.

There will be no homework next week. You may do Raz , practice dictation sentences...they need to remember capital letters and punctuation..nice handwriting too.

We will have PE on Friday and Thursday.

We do have school next week through Thursday. Our party is after lunch at 11:15 until 12:30. Then we will go to specials.The party is on Thursday. Thank you to the parents that volunteered to help.

Today is Tuesday.

We enjoyed Sacagawea. The children were so well behaved. They sat still for 45 minutes and listened to her speak. It was very interesting.

We also saw the Sope Creek Chorus perform holiday songs. They were awesome.

On Wednesday we will have a Math test. It will begin at 8:15. Please be on time. This is a Cobb County first grade test. They had Language Arts on Monday. They did well too.

STEM for specials on Wednesday and Music on Thursday.

Today is Monday.

We had checkpoint Language Arts testing today. The children took a paper and pencil test and then used the I respond remotes to send in their scores to the computer. You would have been impressed with your first graders. I was proud. We will do the Math part on Wednesday.

An actor will visit on Tuesday. She will dress as Sacagawea and perform a skit for all the first graders.

We will also see the Sope Creek Chorus in the morning.

We started Shapes and Solid figures in Math today.

PE for specials on Tuesday, STEM on Wednesday.

Thank you for sending in the white shirt  labeled with their name. We will save them for the holiday party.

We have received first grade CogAT scores.  The vendor does not distribute individual score reports for students/parents.  If you would like a copy of your child's scores, please contact the teacher.

Polar Express Day is Friday. They may wear pajamas all day!!! We will have hot chocolate and donuts.

Parents,

Please consider taking a Holiday Bear from the bulletin board in the lobby and buying a gift card.  If you are unable to get to school to take a Bear, just stop by Walmart, Publix or Kroger and purchase a card and send it to school with your child.  Your child's teacher will pass it along to one of the counselors who will make sure it reaches one of our families in need this holiday season.  If you are able, your contribution would be appreciated by Thursday, December 15.

Today is Wednesday.

They have a math quiz in their folder. The word sort for our letter sounds is there too. They are doing really well with money. We will go over shapes next. Rectangular prism, cylinder, sphere, cube, etc.

We wrote our first copy of our holiday stories today. We edited most of them and they will write the finished copy on Thursday.Then illustrate them. We will display them in the hallway.

We have PE on Thursday and Art Friday.

Don't forget homework. Please read nightly.

Today is Tuesday.

We read our weekend news to the class. The children are improving and reading aloud much stronger. They have to practice reading in front of the class and we have to hear their stories.They show their illustrations too. These also have improved.

We read about Lewis and Clarke. This will be studied all week.

We are working with money this week. A quiz is on Thursday.

They may wear pajamas on Friday for "The Polar Express Day"!!!

We have PE on Wednesday and Thursday...tennis shoes please.
