Today is Friday.

Thank you  for attending conference week. I am blessed to have such wonderful students and families.

I LOVE A BOOK DAY is Monday morning about 7:50.....We will parade around  the hallways of the whole school. Bring your camera. All first grade classes (11 of them ) will participate.Everyone is invited to watch.

We started making a book today about Halloween. Please tell them how you dressed them for Halloween starting with their first Halloween.

PE on Monday.

Today is Tuesday.

Conference week has been wonderful .The children have enjoyed getting out of school at 12:20.

 We are getting alot done in a short amount of time. We made tens/ones skeletons for math. They wrote their weekend news and read their stories aloud today.We also started Raz kids.

We have PE on Wednesday. Please wear tennis shoes.Stem on Thursday,Music on Friday......

Remember I LOVE A BOOK DAY on Monday. The parade begins at 8:00. Please come watch!

Today is Friday.

We had a spelling and math quiz today. Spelling is in the folders. I will give you the math quiz at the conference. We came home wearing our class shirts. Thank you parents.

Thank you to Mrs. Gower for reading today. Thanks for the Halloween candy too.

We finished our pumpkin stories. They are in the hallway for everyone to read.

We have Art on Monday.

Lunch will be 9:40-10:10 and specials 11:00 -11:30 next week. Dismissal is 12:20. Please be on time for your conference. Parking can be difficult. I have them scheduled back to back.I look forward to seeing everyone. The office has my schedule if you forgot your time or please email me.

Red Ribbon Week is next week too. The schedule is in their folder.

Today is Thursday.

Homework is due Friday. Please sign on the bottom of the page.

We are writing a desciptive story about a pumpkin. We will finish them on Friday. They will be on display for you to read next week.

There is a math paper in their folder. We did not do all the pages. However most of the pages are checked. We will have an end of chapter quiz on Friday. Let them show you their work.

PE for specials on Friday.

Friday is spirit day....wear your Sope Creek shirt.

Dismissal at 12:20 everyday next week..............conference week...........

Today is Wednesday.

Please check their folders for papers.

Please remember conference week is next week( October 24- October 28 ). We will dismiss school at 12:20 everyday next week. If you will need ASP then sign up quickly. All conferences have been scheduled. I look forward to meeting with everyone next week.

Today is Tuesday, October 18.

I will be at Chick Fil A night from 5 to 6 serving icecream! We wrote letters to the soldiers today in our class . They will have a station set up to write letters to soldiers at Chick Fil A. This is a project for Sope Creek. We plan to send 1,000 letters to The Bert Show,Q100 radio station. They are collecting 400,000 letters to send overseas to all soldiers for Thanksgiving. Come help our school! The school gets proceeds from your dinner tonight too. I hope to see you there....

We have started studying magnets in science.Ask them about attrach or repel??

We are working with fact families in math. We made haunted houses with fact families for the windows. Let them tell or make  you a fact family.

We have Music for specials on Wednesday. PE Thursday & Friday.

Read nightly...RAZ is coming too.

The I LOVE A BOOK parade is Monday morning at 8:00.(October 31)..this is a great camera day! It will be short, so go into work late that day...save the date!We hope everyone can attend. We will parade around the entire school. We can take a big group picture afterwards or before..I hope everyone is working on their poster and costume. The directions and posterboard went home last week.

< p>Here is a note about Chick fil a night:Please join us for our monthly Chick-fil-A Spirit Night on Tuesday, 10/18, any time between 5pm and 8pm!

While we dine and socialize, we will also be working on writing letters to service men and women as a part of The Bert Show's Big Thank You!  We will have paper and pencils available, and you will leave the letters with us.  We will make sure the letters get delivered.  More information on The Big Thank You, click here. 

Our goal is to have Sope Creek submit at least 1,100 letters!!!  If you would like to write letters at home, you are welcome to have your child bring them to the front office before October 26th.  They must be hand-written on 8.5 x 11'' paper and contain no political messages.

Thank you for supporting our school (a percentage of all proceeds help to fund field trips and staff development) and for supporting our troops!

Thank you for returning all the conference notes. I look forward to meting with everyone. The children will be released early everyday during conference week. Sign up now if you will need to use the afterschool program.

We took the Benchmark test on paper in math today. It tested the children over the mathskills taught this grading period.They did well. We will attempt to use i response and record our answers on Friday. This is a new program from Cobb County.

 

We started to use the computer to write and illustrate a story today. The rest of the class will finish on Friday. They loved this. The program is called Kidpix.

We did get Raz Reading again this year. Thank you to the Sope Creek Foundation. First grade will begin in a few weeks. It is a wonderful reading comprehension program. The children may use the program at school and home. My class soared in reading last year.

The school constrution is well underway. The traffic will get worse. Please consider having your child ride the bus in the morning and afternoon.
