The Great Sphinx
The Great Sphinx is really great.
I saw a picture of it when I was eight.
I hate the desert and the sand.
But, I might just go there if I can.

Martin Luther King Jr. Dies
By Michael G
“Almost always, the creative dedicated minority has made the world better. “
Martin Luther King Jr. was born January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Morehouse College, was a Baptist minister, and a lawyer. He is most important for his “I have a dream” speech that ended segregation. He was an amazing man!
Martin Luther king Jr. accomplished many achievements. The most important one was the “I Have a Dream” speech! On August 28, 1963 In Washington, he delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech that ended segregation from colored people and white people. When he was arriving this was called March on Washington. Another achievement Martin made was the Montgomery Bus Boycott. After Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her seat, Martin led the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This was to end segregation on the bus. The boycott lasted for 365 days. Finally a United States District Court ended racial segregation on all Montgomery public buses. In 1957, King and other civil rights activists founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). The group was created to harness the moral authority and organizing power of black churches to conduct non-violent protests in the service of civil rights reform. King led the SCLC until his death.
Martin had relatives that were still alive when he was assassinated. They are Martin Luther King, Sr., Alberta Williams King, Willie Christine King, and , Alfred Daniel Williams King .
The death of Martin Luther King Jr. was very tragic. On April 4, 1968, King was booked in room 306 at the Lorraine Motel, owned by Walter Bailey, in Memphis Tennessee. At 8:01 p.m. he was shot from the edge of the balcony. Ralph Abernathy, Martin’s close friend and was present at the assassination, heard the shot from inside the motel room. He ran to the balcony to find King on the floor. King was sent to the hospital and died an hour later. The person that shot him was James Earl Ray. I don’t know why he shot him, maybe he didn’t want civil rights for African Americans. Martin Luther King Jr. will be buried in a memorial museum in Atlanta Georgia in honor of him.
Balloon hovercrafts are a fun thing to make. All you need is an old CD that you do not need anymore, a balloon of course, glue, and an old pop-up bottle top from a bottle. First, glue the bottle top to the CD on the hole in the CD. Make sure that the bottle top is closed! Then, blow up the balloon and without letting the balloon deflate, put it on the bottle top. Then open the bottle top and watch it hover!

Excitment is in the air as the second graders jump up and down. Oh, wait here come the kindergarteners. At first they are very quiet, but quickly they start jumping up and down as well. Here comes the example, "BOOM!".
Everone is screaming with excitment. The kindergarteners start launching the soda bottles into the air. THree, two, one and blastoff! The fizz shoots up into the air than comes quickly back down. THe students reset it and do it again.
The students all came to Sope Creek to see exploding cokes. The cokes explode because of a build up of carbon dioxide. The more the merrier! The more mementos the larger the explosion because the cardon dioxide is from the mentos. When mentos goes into the soda they release the cardon dioxide and causes the coke to go BOOM. It also helps it the cokes are shaken up a little bit before.
It was an exciting day at Sope Creek, I am sure the students will always remember exploding cokes :)
Buddy

Meet my dog, Buddy. He is the dog that changed my life forever. Buddy is an Australian Shepherd Border Collie mix and has an unusual coat of fur color. His back is black as night and fluffy like unattached thread on a sock. Buddy’s ears are tiny and soft, similar to a teddy bear. His twinkling eyes are hazel. His face is black as a bat but also brown as mud. Buddy has, what I think, a snow white birthmark directly above his pitch black nose. I love his tail the most because it looks like it’s a skunk’s tail.
I first spotted Buddy at the Cobb County Animal Shelter. When we arrived at the dog section, every single pooch was barking except for one. This doggy was completely noiseless, as silent as night. The second I laid my eyes on him, I knew he was the one. Also, he had a torn teddy bear in his mouth and was wagging his “skunk tail,” which I found was very hilarious. My family and I adopted him and happily drove him home.
When we finally entered our house we all realized our new pooch needed a name. I remembered the old ripped up stuffed bear, therefore I suggested the name Teddy. Eventually my family and I had to agree on Teddy or Buddy. Later on, our superb canine was named Buddy Teddy Redmond. After a few years, he grew in length and personality. Buddy is a humorous doggy because he chases his “skunk tail” and always drops his slobbery toys on our laps. Also Buddy barks with fury whenever he spots anything strolling by the window. You can say Buddy is my canine security system.
Buddy was born on May 9th, 2006. I can tell that Buddy knows when it’s his birthday because I’ve always done something special that even humans get on their birthday. My family and I make Buddy a homemade cake with certain ingredients. His cake is made from special doggy peanut butter and loads of different brands of dog biscuits. Buddy is a member of the family and almost feels like a fluffy brother to me.
There are countless things that I love to do with Buddy. When my dad starts a fire in our fire pit in my backyard, I play fetch with Buddy. Also, when my family and I go to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, Buddy usually goes with us. He continues to be funny by chasing sea gulls with his “skunk tail” being blown in the wind. I’m very lucky to have a dog like Buddy. He is my little bundle of joy.
