Theodore Giesel, better known as Dr.Seuss, is the author of over 400 children's classics. His 108th birthday was recently celebrated on February 28th, 2012. The National Association of Educators selected his birthday as a day to celebrate reading all across America.
Dr.Seuss loved to draw, which he later turned into a career as an illustrator for advertising. Then he went into his career as a children's author and illustrator.
Each of Seuss' stories contains a lesson in them. Like Sneeches On The Beaches which is recognizing how we are all very similar so you should treat everyone with the same respect. Yertle Turtle shows how dangerous Hitler was in World War Two.
So, February 28th is a great time to pick up a book and start celebratig reading.
