Tentative Library Schedule

We have a tentative opening date for the Library!  Monday, October 24, 2005 is our target date at this point.

Of course, this depends on whether or not the shelves are finished in time for us to get the books on them during the week of the Book Fair.  If you take a look at the photo album entitled "October 5 -- Construction" you can get an idea of how many boxes of books Megin and Jessica have to deal with.

At this point our "opening date" refers to our ability to function at a very basic level -- find and circulate books.  Individual teachers and students will have access (we hope!) to the Library and its materials.  We will not be having full-class check out at this point.  Full-class check-out and the beginning of full access to the Library will probably begin a week or so after our opening date.

In preparation for the opening of the library, we will be having two Volunteer training sessions for our wonderul Library volunteers.  The first will be on Friday, October 28th from 10:30 to 11:30.  The second will be on Tuesday, November 1st from 9:30 to 10:30.  Both sessions will be held in the Library Media Center and will provide our fabulous volunteers with a review of our policies and procedures, a chance to work with our automation system, and an orientation to the brand new, very different shelving arrangement.

We look forward to opening and seeing everyone!

ROWS: Computer Refresh

  • Library Computers
On October 17th, Sope Creek benefitted from the R.O.W.S. Project! The R.O.W.S. Project (Refresh of Obsolete Work Stations) is a project funded by SPLOST sales tax. The additional 1% sales tax has provided funds to remove old computers and replace them with 350 brand new computers! The process was amazing to watch....it all happened within the course of one day. Be sure to ask your child about the new computers and how it has changed what they are able to accomplish in school! This is another way that Sope Creek will be SOARING INTO THE FUTURE!
