Monday November 23 - Friday November 27 Enjoy a wonderful, relaxing Thanksgiving Break! 

Tuesday November 24th Foundation's Chin Chin Night, dine-in or take-out.

About 300 to 400 children will need to participate in Hearing and Vision screenings onWednesday, Dec. 2nd thru Friday Dec. 4th starting at 8:30am.  We need trained and untrained volunteers, especially for Wednesday Dec. 2nd.  Please contact Sandra Pickell at pickell736@comcast.net if you can join us.

The much anticipated 5th Grade Jekyll Island Trip is Wednesday December 2nd thru Friday December 4th.

Coke Rewards Due Thursday December 3rd  You can enter you points online atwww.mycokerewards.com or turn them in to the Coke Rewards basket in the front office.  Please contact Pam Buffington,  gtpambuffington@gmail.com, with any questions.

Don't miss the best party of the year..Foundation's Holiday Gift Exchange.  Please join us for an evening of fun and festivities...Appetizers and drinks provided.  December 3rd 7:00pm-10:00pm at the Hampton Farms Clubhouse.  $30 to attend with a gift valued at $15 or less.  Please include a check to Sope Creek Foundation by November 30th in your child's book bag.  Questions? NOMINATING COMMITTEE INFORMATION

This does not mean you are accepting a PTA officer position.  Being on the Nominating Committee means you are helping choose candidates for next year's PTA Executive Board.  Have a voice in who gets nominated, be part of the Nominating Committee.  There is a box in the front office where you can submit your name, or you can contact Barbara Dyck, barbara@thedycks.com.

On Wednesday, the School Board voted to implement the Balanced Calendar for the next three years.  In a nutshell, this means that school will begin in early August (8/2 for the 2010-2011 school year) with a week long break in September, November (Thanksgiving), two weeks in December/January (winter break), a week in February, April (spring break) and school will end in late May (5/27 for the 2010-2011 school year).  Visit the Cobb County School District website, www.cobbk12.org, for additional details.

The Diversity & Inclusion Committee will hold an informational meeting about the International Festival for all volunteers and those even considering participating.  We will provide an overview of the plans for the festival, the venues to be used, scheduled performers, sample displays, and plenty of opportunity to have your questions answered.

Powers Ferry Elementary is looking for portable electric fryers that they can use for making french fries at PTA events.  I thought I'd send out this request to a bunch of people, to see if anyone had a fryer collecting dust in their basement, that they'd like to donate.  Please feel free to forward to anyone who might be able to help out with this request!   Contact Kat Wilson at kgcwilson@comcast.net
