Thank you to everyone who has brought a permission form and $18 for the "Island Hoppin'" year end activities such as the "Luau Pool Party with souvenir class towel," "Movie Madness," "Breakfast," and "Bar-B-Q."

Parents please watch for an Email or phone call from Mr. Narramore regarding the requirement of students to have their SECOND VARICELLA VACCINATION in order to enter middle school. Feel free to contact Mr. Narramore regarding this subject. Even if your child has had chicken pox, middle schools require documentation from your doctor that the disease occurred. If you object to immunizations, you may obtain a waiver form from your doctor.

ACADEMICS

MATH:  The Navigators are working on  "Algebra" as we make discoveries using "Hands On Equations" and other various math discovery activities.

READING:  The Navigators have completed Theme VI of our textbook, the last Theme "Roads To The West." We also continue to work on our "25 Books Read" / 20 minutes of reading per night requirement.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  We are learning how to write "Fairytales."

SPELLING:   We continue developing our spelling skills using "Sitton Spelling" Unit 20. Wordly Wise builds vocabulary and Sitton emphasizes learning spelling rules and patterns for lifelong spelling skills. In Wordly Wise we have completed all the lessons in book 5 of series 3000. We will move on to book 6. Materials for these lessons will be provided to the Navigators. Currently we are on Lesson 10 which we refer to as 3011.

SOCIAL STUDIES:  In our textbooks we are learning about the U.S. during "The Struggle For Equal Rights." We are also continuing to prepare our products and marketing strategies for the upcoming "Business Fair."

SCIENCE:   The Navigators are learning about Geology in our homeroom.

READING:  Read 20 minutes every night in order to fulfill our "25 Books" requirement.  Choose books "on grade level" and on the "Accelerated Reader" list. 125 pages is considered one book for those who choose long books. For example, a 500 page book counts as 4 books!
