This week we will begin CRCT Testing.  It starts on Wednesday, April 23rd, and will go through Tuesday, April 29th. Please make sure that you get a good night's rest, bring in 2 #2 pencils, get to school on time, and have a book to read.  Make sure that you are practicing online for this test.

Parents, please fill out and return by May 2nd the Student Directory Update and Current Student Information form.  Thank you.

The weather is beautiful - spring is a terrific time of year.  I hope you have a wonderful week.

May 3 - Campus Clean-up

Come anytime between 9:00 & 12:00 to help "spring clean" our campus.  Everyone is invited.  Bring your rake, shovel, gloves, and brown paper trash bags.  The class with the highest participation will receive a flower for their teacher.

Please make sure that your are working on your animal report.  It is due on Thursday, April 3rd. Refer to your rubric. This report MUST be in your own words.

     The Accelerated Reader Ice Cream Party cut off is on Wed., March 26th, for all those students who have reached 30, 60, 90, 120, or 150 points for the first time.  The party will be held on Fri., March 28th.

     Reading Logs are due Monday, March 31st.  There is a 400 minute minimum and all logs must be signed and totaled by a parent.

      This week will be very exciting.  On Tuesday, March 4th, we will have Career Day from 8:30 - 11:00.  We will hear many parents speak about their terrific jobs.  You won't want to miss this!

     Tuesday, March 4th, is also an Early Release Day.  Students will be dismissed at 12:20.

     Don't forget the Fun Run is March 15th.  You need to sign up as soon as possible.

     Please make sure that you have your recorder for music on March 24th.

     Thanks again for the wonderful class gift certificate to Lynn's Nails for Teacher Appreciation Week.  I just love gift cards - it's my favorite gift!  I went to Lynn's Nails the day I received the gift card and was completely pampered.  Thanks again.

     Don't forget to buy pizza from Papa John's on Tuesday, Feb. 12th.  Bring in your receipts and perhaps we will win another class pizza party!!!!

     Please bring to class a decorated box for Valentine's Day.  Bring in Valentine's Day cards for each student in the class and you may hand them out.

      The Fun Run will be on Saturday, March 15th from 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 A.M.  Please mark your calendars now for this fun event.

     Art Day will be this Friday, Feb. 1st.  Please bring in a black t-shirt on Wednesday.  We will hold this for you to wear on Friday.

     The 3rd grade play, "Freedom"  will be on Thursday, Feb. 7th. at 7:00.  All parents, grandparents, and adult friends are welcome to attend.

   Welcome back!  I hope you had a great winter break.  Don't forget Papa John's pizza night is Tuesday, Jan. 15th.  Please bring your receipt to class if you buy pizza.  The school makes money for sponsoring this.  We are in the midst of Penny Wars for cancer.  Bring in your pennies, coins, and bills.  Use pennies to add to our daily amount.  Use coins and bills to deduct from other classes' amounts.  It's fun and for a good cause. 

     This week we will be having a math test on Chapter 16 "Geometry," and a health test on Chapter 4, "Nutrition."  Don't forget to study.

Don't forget to bring in $25 for your school yearbook.  After winter break the cost will be $30.

Please give to our foundation.  We would really love to have a smart board in our class.

There are bear cut outs for gift cards in the front office for you to take.  This is how we help out our needy Sope Creek neighbors for the holidays.  We hope you will purchase a gift card and this should be returned to the Sope Creek counselors.

     Pizza Night is Tuesday, Nov. 13th, at Papa John's.  Please support this fund-raiser and enjoy delicious pizza at the same time.

     Please join us at the Delk Road Publix on Tuesday, November 13th.  Our chorus will be singing at 6:00.  There will also be lots of Thanksgiving food to try and guess what?  Mrs. Mande' will be serving you from 6:00 - 7:00, so please come join me and our Sope Creek family.

Many thanks to Rachel and Claire for bringing cupcakes to class for Halloween.  Thank you Caterina for bringing Halloween treats to the class, and Vaughn for giving out skeleton rings.  You are all so very thoughtful!!!!

     I also want to thank Logan, Emily, and Harper for bringing in Halloween treats for our treat bag.  The students will enjoy this throughout the school year.

   Pizza Night was a huge success.  Please mark your calendars for the following Pizza Nights.  If you order pizza from Papa Johns these nights the school receives $$$$$.  The dates are:  Nov. 13, Dec.11, Jan. 8, Feb. 12, March 11, April 15, and May 13.  Enjoy your pizza!!!

3rd Grade Parents,

Thanks to each and every family for your years of support of the Sope Creek Foundation.  We all count ourselves fortunate to be part of the Sope Creek community and are grateful for the wonderful educational benefits Sope Creek provides.

The Foundation is excited about the possibility of adding innovative learning to each and every classroom this year with SmartBoards.  Our goal is to raise $100,000.  However, to make this a reality for every Sope Creek student, we need 100% participation from every Sope Creek family.  No gift is too small.

The boards will installed in the grades with the highest participation.  Currently, 3rd grade has only 19% participation.  For those who have already given, we thank you!
