Monday is the Martin Luther King holiday. I'll see all children at school on Tuesday and seven children's parents for conferences. Please come at the time you agreed to. Our conferences are back to back. I look forward to talking with everyone during the week.
Visit the Book Fair. There are lots of great books!
Our Lively Happenings' newsletter follows:
I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful holiday. I certainly did. It was super being with my family and enjoying our celebrations together. I am rested and ready for lots of study and learning the second half of the year.
We have many things to look forward to in the first few weeks back in school. The children will begin to learn to write in cursive, and I'm sure, practice neatness, as always, in doing their work. In math we will continue practicing the weekly subtraction facts. We will finish working with clocks and begin our study of shapes (planes and solids). In reading, I will be looking for more independence of my students. We will be getting ready for third grade. As we write, I'll be looking for longer and more detailed writings. Our Smartboard is ordered and will be installed in our classroom during the second week that we are back. This is so exciting! Finally, be looking for the conference forms that will be coming home. We try to make sure siblings are back to back in their times. Please return these as soon as you get them and let me know if the time is okay. I must get them all back before I can start making changes for those that need a different time. Thank you for doing this.
I have enjoyed many new things that I received as holiday gifts from these awesome Learning Lions. The gift certificates have been enjoyed and are still being enjoyed. I was honored by a contribution make in my name to the Center for Children and Young Adults. Wow!!! I have felt very special because of all of you and all the kindness you showered on me. Thank you so much.
Now, I hope we are all ready for school again and the best second half of any second grade ever. I will be excited to see everyone.
