    January has been designated "3-a-day Month" by the National Dairy Association.  To help students celebrate this with the help of the Health and Nutrition Committee, they may go to the website www.3adaysuperfans.org.  Click on the part that says "create your own Super Fan Game Face Card". Students choose attributes to create a trading card of their own.  Please return your printed card to school between Jan 21st-25th.  These will be displayed in the cafeteria the following week. Have fun creating your card.

     Don't forget that the week of Jan. 22nd -28th is parent conference week.  Early Release time will be at 12:20 each day. Please take an opportunity to shop at the Scholastic Book Fair while you are at the school.  The selections look fabulous as usual.

     Thanks to all of the parent volunteers that helped with the Third Grade Science Day . It was a huge success.  The students had fun, and learned a lot.  A special thanks goes to Kate Peeples for helping revamp the Science Day for 3rd grade. She did an awesome job! It supports our new science standards 100%!! 

     The new Biography Report directions come home this week.  Please be on the lookout for a Kleenex box cube to help us with this project!Thanks!

    Hello Lamborghini families,

             If you are interested in making a donation to help out some Sope Creek families, there is a board in the hallway by the front office sponsored by the Guidance Counselors. You are invited to take a bear and make a gift card donation.  The gift card drive will end next Friday, Dec. 14th. You may send in your gift card with your child. Teachers will forward them to the Guidance Counselors.

           Help out the Sope Creek Foundation by participating in the Papa John Pizza Night on December 11th.  It's a great way to relax, have a tasty dinner, and help your school at the same time.  Don't forget to send in the ticket the next day so that our class gets credit for your order.

           Sope Creek PTA will sponsor a Holiday Celebration at Chuck E. Cheese 0n 12/21 from 3- 9 PM.  Start your Winter Break in a fun way as you help out the school.

         Please help your child focus on memorizing their multiplication tables. For some students, the checklist may not be enough.   Others ways to practice include using flash cards, the fact family triangles that they have, music , writing them in sand as they recite aloud, and the many weblinks listed on the blog.  We have worked on the meaning of the multiplication, rules, and strategies, but students have to memorize them for speed and accuracy. Thanks for your support with this.

       A list went home with your child yesterday about a service project that the Lamborghinis will put together during our Winter Party.  I have set aside a box in the room for students to put the items in when you are ready to send them to school.

       The students brought home a Wish List for their Secret Pal on Thursday.  Please only send in ONE PAPERBACK book.  No hardback books needed.  The gift may be wrapped by the student if you would like for them to do it.  Please have it tagged with the giver and receiver name.  SHHHH! It is a secret until we unveil them. If you are unable to find any of the books, please let me know and I will try to send some extra suggestions.  The class is very excited about this!! Thank you for helping out with this.

       Also, the class came up with the idea of doing a book swap within our own class.   That is a great way to promote reading, and share resources.  Look for more information to follow soon about this project.
