Week of January 28th
Hello Locomotive Families!
Wow! Thank you to all of the parents who attended the Winter Conferences! Our class had 100% participation! I know your child will truly benefit if we are all working together. :)
This week we will continue geometry in math. In reader leader groups we will be reading more nonfiction stories to prepare for our upcoming astronomy unit. During writers workshop we will practice writing descriptive stories on a wish that we want to come true. Spelling will continue to focus on prefixes and suffixes and we will complete a short unit on GERMS during health!
News and Reminders :
Dr. Burstein will be visiting the second grade on Monday, January 28th to discuss dental health. He will be showing our kids pictures of teeth that have been taken care of, and teeth that have not been taken care of. He will stress the importance good hygiene.
READING LOGS ARE DUE ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 31. DON'T FORGET TO WRITE THE TOTAL NUMBER OF MINUTES!
ART DAY: Wear the color shirt that is assigned to your grade on Art Day, 2/1/08. MAKE SURE TO BRING YOUR SHIRT IN BY WEDNESDAY, 1/30 and have it ready at school. Grade shirt color assignments are as follows:

FUN RUN: Mark you calendars! Don’t forget the Fun Run, Saturday, 3/15/08 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Feb. 4-8 is National School Counseling Week. This is a week designated by the American School Counselors Association to recognize counselors for the outstanding work they do to support our students, families, and school communities.
Please take time during the week of Feb. 4-8 to celebrate the enthusiasm and commitment of the school counselors in your buildings.
