Dalmatian Day

Our Jellybeans made the cutest Dalmatian puppies.  They had fun watching the movie and pretending to be pup for the day.

Teddy Bear Day

Well the Teddy Bears, cats, owls, frogs, and dogs had a great day in Kindergarten.  They seemed to have brought the 'sillies' with them, so they are coming home.  We had fun graphing them in many different ways.  It is so much fun to bring a friend to school.  Thank you for sharing them.

Fun Run

The Foundation 5K and Fun Run is scheduled for March 15th from 9am-12pm.  This is a big fundraiser for the Sope Creek Foundation.  Look out for more information in the coming weeks.

Art Day

Friday February 1st is Art Day at Sope Creek.  The theme this year is Performance Art.  The Kindergarten is asked to wear white t-shirts.  Please send in this shirt labeled with your child's name by Wed. Jan 30th.  They are also building a 'Wish Tree', similar to those displayed by artist Yoko Ono.  Families are asked to discuss what one wish they would like to add to the wish tree.  In todays folder is a flyer and an envelope in which to make your wish.  Please return you wish on Monday.  Art Day is and entire day activity.  We will be eating sack lunches in the room on this day.

100th Day of School

Happy 100th Day of School!!!!

We had a great celebration for the 100th day of school. We had yummy cake for snack.  Everyone did an incredible job on their 100 day projects.  So many clever ideas.  The best news is that the Jellybean Class collected 121 cans.  Way to go Jellybeans!!!!

GOT MILK

The Health and Nutrition Committee is sponsoring "3-a-Day Month", by the National Dairy Association.  Students are encouraged to milk, cheese, or yogurt three times a day to insure adequate calcium intake.

During the week of Jan 22 - 25, students can produce their own 3-a-day Superfan online.  Have your child print the superfan they create, and they will all be collected to create one large superfan.  During the week of Jan 28 - Feb 1, children drinking plain milk, skim milk, or yogurt may be given prizes by the 'Got Milk' promotion.

Early Release and Conference Week

Please remember that we do not have school on Monday January 21, 2008.  The rest of the week we have early release for our conferences. We eat lunch earlier and go to specials at a different time because of our early dismissal time.  School is dismissed at 12:20pm everyday until Tuesday January 29th.  Please arrive early for our conference, we have such limited time.  The Book fair is in the Media Center, so plan to look around before or after our conference.

Yearbooks

The 2007 -08 Yearbooks are on sale through the end of January.  They are a lot of fun to look through as the year pass.  The cost of a yearbook is $30.00.
