When playing games with your children at home, such as Candyland and Chutes and Ladders, please remember that while winning is fun, we need to learn how to lose also.  Always try to let your child win the first game and the last game.  It is important for you to win at least one game in between.  It is ok to beat your children at games.  That is how they learn to lose without having temper fits.

Full Day Parents:  Don’t forget to send in your letter pictures each week.  We use them here in the afternoons.  They are due on Thursdays but can be brought in any other day of the week.

No School on Monday due to President’s Day

Smile!! Picture day is Wednesday February 22!! This will be individual pictures and a class photo. If you chose a specific pose for your child on the paper that came home yesterday, we will do our best to get your child in that pose. In year’s past, our main goal is to capture your child’s photo while they are facing the camera!!

Our lost and found is overflowing!!

We have three huge bags of lost items in addition to our normal lost and found.

If your child is missing an item please come and claim it.  Students can also look through the lost and found prior to the start of the school day or after lunch.

We are planning on donating any unclaimed items at the end of February :)

Update to blog! Keep the Creek Healthy!!

Important News from the Clinic and Administration:

We are starting to see an increase in illness at Sope Creek.  Please review and adhere to the following guidelines:

• Students need to be free from vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.
• Students need to be fever free (without fever reducing medicine) for 24 hours before returning to school. 
• If your child has a serious cough, particularly if it’s accompanied by breathing difficulties call your MD and keep your child at home. Coughs can spread infection to other students.
• Students with Bacterial Conjunctivitis (pink eye) may return to school 24 hours after antibiotics are begun.  Students with Viral Conjunctivitis may return when eyes are “clear,” no apparent redness and no drainage present or with a written note from your MD. *The cause of the pink eye must be determined by a physician.

The single most effective way to prevent the spread of disease is by good hand washing!

Don't forget that if your child is absent, we need an excuse note.  Simply send in a note stating your child's name, their teacher, and the reason for absence.  Illness is a sufficient reason.  If you would like to download a Sope Creek absence excuse template, you may do so by clicking here.

Valentine’s Day – We will have a special cooking activity/treat for Valentine’s Day during snack. We will be making cupcakes and decorating them. If your child cannot have cupcakes, please let me know by Monday or send them a special treat on Tuesday. Thanks!

Valentines – We have 8 children in our class. If you wish to send in Valentines, please make sure you send one for every child.
