Off To A Great Start-Sept. 5, 2008

The Hound Dogs and Pooches are off to a great year.  We have already completed our fourth week of school, had all our beginning of the year assessments, begun our AR Program, guided reading groups, learned about scientific method and matter.  Math is equally off to a wonderful start!  We have learned about place value, compared numbers and are beginning to study charts, graphs and diagrams.  We are learning to write great sentences and form a paragraph with a topic sentence, 3 or 4 details, and a concluding statement!  The first few weeks are important to teach procedures, classroom expectations, and get to know one another.  We have made super progress and are excited about this year in second grade.  We have begun our weekly game of kickball and all students demonstated the importance of teamwork.  This "Top Dog" is very proud!

Welcome To Second Grade!

It's time to get back to school and I'd like to welcome you to the home of Hosey's Hound Dogs and Pooches.  We are ready to kick off a brand new year with so much anticipation of great things to come.  I'd like to invite you to Open House this week on Tuesday night, August 14, at 7:00.

I will be using a web site called Teacherweb.com to communicate with parents on a regular basis.  You will be able to email me from that site.  Please bookmark it in your favorites and check it each Friday for our newsletter.  I'd like to post pictures of our class from time to time but in order to have your child appear in those pictures, you must sign concent to photograph.  I will not include names with pictures on the web.  This is an excellent opportunity for you to see and read all about what is happening in our classroom.  I hope you will tune in several times a week to see all the updated information, including special announcements, reminders, and description of special events and project.
