Next week we will be very busy... each day we will travel to another country to see how they celebrate. They will be traveling to Russia, Israel, Germany and the Netherlands. They will keep a travel journal and all of the goodies they receive will go into their travel suitcase.
We will continue our author study on Jan Brett: we will be looking at the different story elements- setting, characters, problem/event and solution. They will use the elements also to write their own narrative stories. The stories will include who, what, where etc.
Math- When you to put 2 things together you make more. We are adding and learning the basics of putting numbers together. We will start with low numbers and build on.
We will also be making gingerbread houses during center time, which they can eat at home:)
Homework--- this may sound strange.... but please take next week and through the break to teach your child how to tie their shoes, put on the their coat and gloves, and to pull the sleeves out of their coat if reversed. After the break, Sally and I will no longer be tying shoes, if they don't know how they will have to find a shoe tying buddy in our class. Plus shoe tying and knowing how to put on a coat are key skills for life! Thanks so much:)
Countdown to Christmas and Hanukkah- the kids are making chain links to help countdown to the holiday. When they come home they are to hang them somewhere in the house. Starting that night they will take 1 link off before bed each night. When it gets to the last link.... the holiday has arrived! Hanukkah links are coming home today! Christmas links will come home next week. Thanks so much
