SCHOOL SUPPLIES at EPIPACKS.COM DEADLINE MAY 15, 2013

The PTA will once again be selling pre-packaged school supply packs for the 2013-2014 school year through our supplier, Educational Products Incorporated (“EPI”). YOU MUST GO TO THE EPI WEBSITE TO ORDER A SCHOOL SUPPLY PACK.  The PTA cannot accept paper orders or personal checks for the packs.   YOU MUST PAY VIA CREDIT CARD AT THE EPI WEBSITE.  EPI will bulk-ship the supply packs to the school in June, so NO SEPARATE SHIPPING CHARGES THIS YEAR!!  The PTA will deliver all packs to the children’s classrooms before Meet & Greet.  ACT NOW!!  Go to www.epipacks.com and enter school code SOP001.  Follow the directions on the site to find the appropriate grade level supply list and complete your order.  If you have any problems with the ordering process, please contact Sara O’Dea at odeas@mac.com.   The window for ordering school supply packs from EPI will be open through May 15, 2013.   If you miss the deadline or would like to purchase the necessary school supplies yourself, please check the school blog over the summer for the school supply lists.

family fun night! New date

 

The Sope Creek Elementary Foundation will be holding a VERY special Family Fun Night!  We will showcase some of the items that parent contributions have brought to Sope Creek.  Come see the STEM lab with Kerry Lance and visit our Garden Coordinator in the Greenhouse.  Learn about our world-class PE Program from Coach Hunt & Coach Maloney! We will also have Wheeler's Robotics Team on hand demonstrating their expertise and the Walton Varisty players will be engaging with the students throughout the night.

As always, we will have fun activities with a DJ and face painting!

kid's Town

We won!

The hummingbirds won a pizza party for having the most kids walk to school in our kindergaten class! Great job!

 

Kindergarten musical- 8:15 am on Thursday, March 28th

 

Hi parents! Wow, what a wonderful Kid’s Town we had today! The kids had a blast and I am sure they will be so excited to tell you about it! Between the Mohawks, nails, tattoos, pet shop, and baked good they will all come home happy! Thanks you for the parent volunteers and donations!

The Health Services Clinic needs clothing donated in all sizes.  Please consider donating a couple of your child’s outgrown clothing items to the clinic.  Especially needed are elastic waist pants, shorts and new underwear.  Thanks in advance for your generosity.  Nurse Kim

 

Next week- we will continue our study of the seasons and how our world changes. We started by looking into weather this week and next week we will continue with clouds and how to make scientific observations. We used our 5 senses to observe the changes. Next week we will also do some fun St. Patrick’s day activities. Next week is the end of the 3^rd quarter and report cards will come home the following week… things being asses by Friday…

5. Character, setting, problem and solutions in stories
6. Counting on from any number
7. Counting object to 20 and writing number

These are just a few of the major things I am assessing this quarter. Please refer to your parent report guide for more info.

 

We have also been working hard on spelling using blends and spelling tricks (tricks- ck, ing, ink,all, ay)

picture day

It's time for Picture Day! Friday, February 22, 2013 is your Spring Picture Day.  There will be individual pictures of all students and faculty, and class group pictures taken.  You will receive a proof of your child's picture and an order envelope a few weeks after picture day.  Payment for pictures or return of proof will be due one week from the day you receive your proof.

FYI:  The Spring background is a spring outdoor scene.  Medium to dark color clothing is recommended.  White or pastel color clothing is not recommended.  If  you have any questions, please call School Pictures of Georgia (770) 919-9183.  Thank you for supporting our school picture program!

Our Lost & Found is overflowing!  Please check it out this week to recover lost items.  At the end of February we will donate the items to a local charity.

Tuesday- I am out at a training- We will study animals that hibernate

Wednesday- Teddy bear day! They may bring a bear to school!

Thursday- We will learn about groundhog’s day! Let’s hope for early spring!

Friday- Clifford field trip! Story parent is still on, center parent is cancelled for Friday.

After school Programs

We celebrate our eight Multiple Intelligences and the gifts that each student brings to Sope Creek.   In order to continue to enhance learning experiences beyond the classroom, The Sope Creek Foundation has increased our FAST (Foundation After School Time) offerings and is now offering registration online!  Sope Creek teachers are providing MANY new programs this spring in addition to Art and Chess offered by outside organizations.  Please see the variety of offerings below.  To find out about a particular course, click on the link or the graphic to register online.

Programs are filling up quickly, so don't hesitate to register and take advantage of these opportunities.  Each program requires separate registration.  In addition, all students that participate in any of the FAST activities MUST be registered for the Sope Creek After School Program.
