Well, the good news is we are finished with CogAT testing. Yeah!! However, we still have ITBS testing the rest of this coming week. Our schedule will be a little topsy turvy. We have had to cut out/back on some subjects due to time taken up by testing.
This week we will
- continue working on calculating elapsed time. In third grade we look at time to the quarter hour only.
- write sentences with complete subjects and predicates
- expand and combine sentences
- practice dictionary and thesaurus skills
- identify the nutritional value of foods and why we need to eat them
There will be no spelling or Spelling City this week. I am not assigning homework, however your child should still read for 20 minutes daily and work on IXL for 15 minutes. I suggest working on time and subtraction skills.
Lunchroom: I've noticed many of our students purchasing extras in the lunchroom and some have selected 2 ice cream bars or 2 rice krispy treats. We've had students that brought lunch from home, and then purchased extras. They didn't eat their packed lunch. You have control over what your child purchases. If you want to limit what your children are purchasing, go to https://www12.mealpayplus.com/default.aspx .
I have not received pictures or picture money from a handful of people. Please return any pictures you do not wish to purchase and include a check for those you are purchasing.
Many thanks to Liam's mom for coming in to read to us. Emma T.'s mom is our guest reader this week. Also thanks to everyone that has volunteered to help with snacks during our testing week.
