Don't Miss the Opportunity to Pre-Order Your School Supplies!

SCHOOL SUPPLIES at EPIPACKS.COM DEADLINE MAY 15, 2013

The PTA will once again be selling pre-packaged school supply packs for the 2013-2014 school year through our supplier, Educational Products Incorporated (“EPI”). YOU MUST GO TO THE EPI WEBSITE TO ORDER A SCHOOL SUPPLY PACK.  The PTA cannot accept paper orders or personal checks for the packs.   YOU MUST PAY VIA CREDIT CARD AT THE EPI WEBSITE.  EPI will bulk-ship the supply packs to the school in June, so NO SEPARATE SHIPPING CHARGES THIS YEAR!!  The PTA will deliver all packs to the children’s classrooms before Meet & Greet.  ACT NOW!!  Go to www.epipacks.com and enter school code SOP001.  Follow the directions on the site to find the appropriate grade level supply list and complete your order.  If you have any problems with the ordering process, please contact Sara O’Dea at odeas@mac.com.   The window for ordering school supply packs from EPI will be open through May 15, 2013.   If you miss the deadline or would like to purchase the necessary school supplies yourself, please check the school blog over the summer for the school supply lists.

The Sope Creek Elementary Foundation will be holding a VERY special Family Fun Night!  We will showcase some of the items that parent contributions have brought to Sope Creek.  Come see the STEM lab with Kerry Lance and visit our Garden Coordinator in the Greenhouse.  Learn about our world-class PE Program from Coach Hunt & Coach Maloney! We will also have Wheeler's Robotics Team on hand demonstrating their expertise and the Walton Varisty players will be engaging with the students throughout the night.

As always, we will have fun activities with a DJ and face painting!

Congratulations to our IXL Champs from last week!

It is so hard to believe that this is the last week of the third quarter. Report cards go home next Friday, March 22, so be on the lookout for them! This is also the time of year where “Spring Fever” starts to hit and more behavior issues tend to arise. I have told the kids that I am going to be more strict with their behavior calendars and that I expect their best behavior. I would really appreciate your support at home with this as well. I have a few other announcements/reminders:

• Last week, I sent home invitations to the Volunteer Luncheon that will be on Wednesday, March 20 from 12:00-12:30. I would love to say thank you to anyone who has helped out and have a delicious lunch from Pero’s Pizza. If you could return the slip or just email me if you plan to come, that would be great.

• If you would like to order from the Scholastic Book Club catalogs that I sent home last week, please send it in or order online by March 18. Our kids love to read and Scholastic has some great deals!!! If you lost yours, let me know and I’ll send another set home.

• Please, please, please make sure your child is studying their addition and subtraction facts! The third grade teachers let us know again how important it is for your child to walk in to third grade having mastered their facts.

According to the “Baby Countdown” that we do each morning, I am 57 days away from our latest addition. Hopefully, I will make it!!!

Tuesday, January 22nd is Sope Creek Night at the Chick-fil-A at Woodlawn Commons!  Please join us between 5:00 and 7:30 pm, have dinner, and support our school!  The class with the best turn-out will receive stuffed Chick-fil-A cows for every student!!!!

This month is hosted by Third Grade!  We'll see you there!

Hello Parents! Our Holiday Break is almost here! I know you are looking forward to spending time with your families. I know I can't wait! A have a couple of reminders and announcements:

• The only homework next week will be to read for 20 minutes each night and fill out the Reading Log. Please turn it in on Thursday (totaled and signed.) Therefore, I will not be sending home a Homework Assignment Sheet next week.
• If your child has not sent in a book to donate to a second grader in need, please have them do so before Tuesday. This will be a station at our Holiday Party, and they must have a book in order to participate. Please make sure it is gently used or new and is something that a second grader would really love!
• Chick-Fil-A night is this Tuesday, December 18 from 5:00-7:30!!! This one will be hosted by the second grade teachers, and I will be there passing out ice cream from 6:40-7:30. I would LOVE to see you there!

Do you shop at Whole Foods? Make sure to shop this Tuesday, December 11 to have 10% of your receipts go back to Sope Creek for our special educational recycling display project! Whole Foods has been very supportive of this project with their interest in recycling and sustainability, and has already contributed some funds toward the project.  Thank you Whole Foods!

 By simply choosing to do your grocery shopping at Whole Foods Tuesday, you will benefit your school! Don’t forget—this Tuesday, December 11th.  Help fund Sope Creek just by shopping! Put it in your calendar!

Parents need to put their receipts in the box at the Sope Creek table for the school to get the 10% back. Receipts with parents' names and phone numbers on the back will be entered into a raffle.
