October 29, 2007

I want to thank both Ms. Seemann and Mrs. Agramonte for chaperoning our field trip to the Etowah Indian Mounds and New Echota.  It was a long day and I couldn't have done it without them.  Thanks!

The class has been busy working on their multiplication skills the past few weeks.  I am very impressed with how quickly most of them are learning these.  We will have our first timed test on Friday, and I plan to give the chapter 7 test on Wednesday of next week.  We will then continue in chapter 8 with multiplying higher numbers.

Have a great week!

Next Week . . .

I am going ahead and sending home a paper copy of the newsletter for next week along with a copy of the spelling words.  Please make sure you review it as I have included a few items regarding report cards.

Speaking of report cards, these will be going home on Monday.  I want to commend everyone for how well the class is doing so far this year!  As you all know we will have our one and only formal conference in January.  There shouldn't be any surprises on the report cards as they are a reflection of the grades that have been coming home.  If you couldn't tell, I'm a little apprehensive about sending home the first report card without a conference!

We will be going on our first field trip on Thursday.  I will be sending home a few reminders regarding the trip at the beginning of the week.

Have a wonderful weekend!

It's Over!

I've heard from a few parents who have asked their child how the ITBS testing was going.  The number one answer: It's boring!  I shared with the class this morning that I agreed with them. I also indicated that while it may be boring it is also a necessary part of tracking their progress through their school years.  The class's collective reply: But you don't have to take it!  My reply: You're right, but I have to watch you take it.  If you have ever spent five mornings watching paint dry then you have an idea of what my week has been like . . .

I do, however, want to commend the class for their performance this week.  They came in each morning ready to sit for very extended periods and concentrate to the best of their abilities.  They deserve getting out this weekend and blowing off some steam!  Octoberfest, anyone?

Next week we return to our regularly scheduled programming.  Yay!
