We're starting to move now!

I'm very impressed with how well this class is coming together.  They're really hard workers and they are quickly learning the routines of third grade. We are getting there!

I want to clarify the oral addition practice that the third graders are working through.  There are enough spaces for four weeks.  They only need to do one week at a time.  In addition to the oral practice I will be sending home practice pages next week.  The students need to do as many as they can in five minutes.  Remember that the students need to have at least 90% accuracy for us to consider them proficient with their facts.

Week Two

I want to compliment the class on their excellent behavior the past few weeks.  They have been doing a wonderful job getting their work completed and following our Class Constitution.  Keep up the good work!

Coming home today is a permission slip for Online Math League.  This is a national online competition between hundreds of schools.  Each quarter the students take a test and we post the scores online, allowing everyone (including parents) the opportunity to see how we compare to others around the country.  If you interested in having your child participate then please fill out the permission slip and return it to me.

I want to thank everyone for attending Open House.  I respect that people's schedules are busy and I hope you all learned what our class is about.  Remember that I can be contacted anytime should a question or concern arise.

The students will be coming home with a paper copy of the newsletter today.  As I indicated at Open House, though, this is the only paper copy I will be sending.  I have gone ahead and attached the newsletter for next week below.  If for some reason you cannot download and view the newsletter let me know and I'll make sure you child gets one each week.

Welcome Back!

I want to welcome everyone to third grade!  We have been busy the past few days getting ready for the new school year.

I hope to see all of you at our Open House this Thursday, August 16 at 7:00 in my classroom.  I'll be going over everything you will need to know for the year.  See you there!
