Snowman Hope that your holiday is merry and bright!!!  You made Mrs. Wooten feel merry and bright today.  Thank you so much for the gifts to thank her for all that she does for us.

Just a heads up to let you know that we will be starting Mr. Popper's Penguins on the first day back in January.  We will read it as a class, that means everyone will read, from January 8th to January 22nd.  The children will be given an assignment to choose their favorite scene from the book and act it out with puppets.  More information later.  Anyway, this puppet show will take place on January 23rd at 8:15, if you would like to watch, please feel free to come.  Penguin_2 For another Mr. Popper project, each child will need a shoe box without the lid.  Athletic shoe boxes do not work, so be alert when presents are opened, and GRAB one to send in.  Thanks.

When returning to school in January we will study geometry in math and energy in science.  On January 16th we will have an inschool field trip on Forces of Energy.  Forms and envelopes will come home after the holidays.

Please remember that conferences are from January 22-January 28.  If you need a specific time, please let me know now, as times are filling up.  I have only 2 more 7:00am conference times left.  Report cards will be given out at conferences.

Smart Boards are coming to second grade in the middle of January!!!!!!

See you next year.....LindaTeacher_in_class

Mrs. Wooten

Hi Parents,

I am so sorry that I forgot one important bit of information in our blog this week.  We will thank Mrs. Wooten on Wednesday for her volunteering each Wednesday with our class.  If you can please bring a small thank you for her on Wednesday.  Your child can present her with this when their group is called to read.  Thanks for your help.

Conferences are coming

Penguin Just a short note to keep you up to date on our last week before break.

Thank you for the great response to the reading of our blog.  19 out of 21 families responded to the secret message!!!!  Makes me happy to know that you are reading our blog.

December reading logs are due next Friday.  Friday is also the last day of the grading period.  Report cards will go home during Conferences, January 22-January 28th.  Speaking of conferences, I need to know who needs a 7:00am conference.  There are 5 available, so let me know right away if you need one.  I cannot guarantee every request, but send me a note with any times you cannot come.  Teachers will meet in January to coorinate siblings, and I will do my best to accommodate your requests.

Thank you to our room mothers for your hard work in organizing a fun holiday party for our dragons.  This will be next Friday, so please send in the requested supplies.

Our money tests in math were completed today and most everyone got E's!!!!!!!  We have started the time unit and hope to finish by Thursday.  Our timed tests will be on the -6's.

Have a great weekend and holiday break..........Remember to send in Mr. Popper's Penguins, as we will start right away in January.                          Linda

Hi Parents,

What a busy time!  Thank you for helping your dragon keep up with our last 2 weeks of school.  Our holiday party is well planned by our room mothers.  Please make sure that you answer their email and help with the necessary supplies for that fun event.

In our class, we will be making some family holiday presents...shhhhhhhhhhhh!  I need you to send in an average size gift bag and some tissue paper to aid in transporting these home.  Thank you.

I am not sure if everyone is reading our blog, and it is really important to me and the children that you do, sooooooooooo  if you read this blog, send in 1 glue stick or a roll of masking tape and I will know you did.  In return, your child will get a homework pass as a thank you for reading the blog.

We will finish unit 11 in math next week.  Probably test out on Thursday.  Next topic is time!!  Our timed tests will be on the -5's.  Seventeen dragons passed the -4's!!!!!!!!!!!

Our health unit is on nutrition.  The dragons are really enjoying learning about the different foods and what they do for your body.

Please remember that in January we will read Mr. Popper's Penguins as a class.  It is very helpful for each child to have their own copy, as we will highlight and work on vocabulary.  Might be a great stocking stuffer.  Send your copy in as soon as you have it.  Thanks!!!!

Oh, the biggest news is that next week we will start learning D'Nealian cursive!!!!!!  Oh, are we excited!!

Have a fun weekend!                   Linda
