As you can see we have become completely enthralled with Ben Franklin
We were fortunate to have a real live Ben Franklin come to our classrooms and share his life's accomplishments! We were able to ask him questions and share what we know to conclude our studies of our first American hero.
Next week we will begin our study of magnets. If any of the children have magnets they would like to bring in, please have them do that next week.
Also, we will reviewing ABC order, synonyms/antonyms, writing a seasonal story, math fact families, and place value. Along with reviewing consonant digraphs: /ch/, /sh/, /wh/, /th/, and /ck/.
Don't forget, the I Love a Book Day Parade is on October 31st at 8am. The children will be dressed up in their favorite storybook character and we will have a parade around the school. If anyone did not get the 2 poster boards, please let me know. The parade should take about 20-30 minutes, so you can get to work after that. Don't forget your cameras!
We are excited to use the new hand held I-Respond "clickers" as we get to know this new technology for our first graders. We'll do several different exercises to practice how to sign on and place our answer. The children are loving this new technology!
REMEMBER: 1. Library day is on WED. Please send in your books on that day so you can check out new books on your child's level! Please let your child know that they have to check out one book they can read themselves and one "Fun" book to enjoy with you!
2. In 2 weeks, Oct. 24-28th, the kids get out at 12:20 for Early Release all week, so we can conference with all the parents about how GREAT your child is doing in school!! :) make arrangements!
Have a FANTASTIC Fall Weekend!! I can't wait to hear all the FUN things your child did over the weekend in their weekend news journal on Monday!
