Language Arts

Our next story will be "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" which helps children learn that they must try and try again to be successful in their work, just as the little spider does in the story.

Math

We will complete Chapter 1 in Math which has covered addition and problem solving.  We will then take our Chapter 1 Asssessment.  After this assessment we will begin Chapter 2 by sending you a Parent Math Newsletter.  Chapter 2 begins with Subtraction.

Homework

Thank you for helping your child complete their Math Homework assignments.  This helps to reinforce our daily lessons.

News From The Comets

First Week Update

As we closed out the first week of the new school year, we completed our "First Week of First Grade" Book.  We are working on teamwork skills, following our class rules, and listening and following directions.  We are also getting used to unpacking our white notebooks and giving the teacher our notes in the morning.

New Harcourt Math

We began working in our new Harcourt Math Workbooks by practicing our addition facts.  Tomorrow we will have our first "Math Homework Page" so please help your child complete this and return to class the next day.  We will also have a "Problem of the Day" and we will bring these home weekly.  The Comets must "show what they know" with each problem and explain how they found their answers.

Class T-shirts

Please continue to send in your class donation to cover the cost of the Class T-shirt and other supplies for the entire year.  Our wonderful moms are coordinating our class "Story Parent and Helper Parent" schedule.  Thanks for your help!
