Literature Circle Training by our LSS Becky Grindstaff

Are you in a book club? This week we are practicing this life long skill from our LSS, Becky Grindstaff. We have been learning in greater detail about making connections  in text to self, text, and world, by learning to take on different roles in book  club discussions. So far, we have been exposed to these skills by sharing a poem and then practicing each job in small groups. First we learned to be the Artful Artist. Discussion Director and Connector are the other two jobs we explored. Next week we will learn about the other roles in the literature circle. After this training and CRCT Testing ,we will give it a whirl.  Each lesson has been taught on our Smartboard. Did you know that smartboard is a compound word? We've been looking for them this week and writing sentences using compound words. Much of our work is done on the dry erase boards so we can make corrections easily and be "green " in the process. Once again, we want to thank the generosity of our parents who supported the Foundation Fund Raising Drive. Each day it is my goal to have every student touching the board and engaged in the  endless interactive activities available.

On top of this we have started a special surprise for mom. Shhh...It's a secret.

Our CRCT review begins in earnest. Please practice online using the information I have given you.

Send a note or email if you need another copy of your ten digit I.D. number to get onto the site.

Have a great week. We are all excited about sharing our photos, stuffed animals, and pets on Friday.

Next week we will have a story but no homework on test evenings. A good night's rest, 2 healthy snacks, a water bottle, and sending your child in on time and in a happy frame of mind, are the parts you play as parents for testing. THESE ARE VERY IMPORTAMT! We test Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week

Thanks you for all you do to help your student be successful!
