Thanks
to all your support and enthusiasm, our Boosterthon Fun Run was another
resounding success! The students gave such a great effort
on the track, and they really seemed to embrace the character
lessons and "I Choose" messages that the Booster team provided each
day!
All laps have been entered, with an average of 34.5!! And now the total is here...ARE YOU READY?! After all pledges and laps entered, and if Sope Creek Elementary collects 100% of pledges, the PTA and Foundation wil receive $83,266.56! That is a new Sope Creek Boosterthon record!!! These funds will provide amazing enrichment and resources for our students and teachers! Thank you so much for all your efforts to support our fundraising efforts and to make this program such a great experience for our students!
Our next, very important step is to collect those pledges! Please have your student collect their pledges and return them in the Boosterthon collection envelope no later than Monday, September 10. Please note that a new feature this year is that sponsors can choose to pay online with a credit card (service fee applies). Simply click from the Boosterthon email or web site and follow the directions.

10% of all class funds collected by September 10 go straight to your child's teacher, so please get those pledges in so your class is able to reap the rewards!

What an amazing time we had at the Boosterthon Fun Run today! Friends, fun, music, exercise, and raving fans! A great way to HELP OUR SCHOOL!!!
The rain held off, so we were able to complete our laps outside on the newly sodded field! Thank you, SPLOST Dollars for a great space for students to play and exercise!
Students lined up and waited with their TEAMS to run through the Booster Tunnel and to be announced on the field.
Once all teams were announced, students got warmed up and ready for The Fun Run! Parents held amazing signs, flags, and cheered for students as they completed each lap.
The Booster Team led us through all kinds of laps: time with friends, Riverdancing, Highway USA, Skipping, Raise the Roof, and many more!
Students showed their pride when they achieved their goal number of laps! They are excited because they did their personal best and will HELP OUR SCHOOL be the best it can be! Thank you, students for all of your hard work, your perseverance, and your amazing running!
Students, you have done a tremendous job of getting pledges! We are extremely proud! Within the next week, you will be asked to call your sponsors and tell them what a tremendous job you have done!
How will money collected benefit Sope Creek students?
The proceeds from the Boosterthon Fun Run will fund our entire PTA Budget. PTA provides enrichment opportunities that benefit EVERY CHILD at Sope Creek. Opportunities include: visiting authors, High Touch High Tech hands-on science instruction, support Music, Art, PE, STEM, Counselors, and the Library Media Center, provides staff development, provides teacher grants, funds online enrichment such as iXL, funds Art Day, child safety, the clinic, community outreach, education and literacy, environmental education, field day, Reflections and Honoring our Heroes, student publications, teacher appreciation, the Thanksgiving Feast, the Winter Talent Show, and support in writing instruction.
All monies raised beyond the PTA budget benefit the Foundation. The Foundation's mission is to provide funding necessary to support our school's commitment to academic excellence and student success. Recent Foundation expenditures: support to the STEM Program, STEM lab, increased computer infrastructure, document cameras in all classrooms, upgraded gym floor, support to the PE Program, Art Day support, instructional supplies, and the new Sope Creek greenhouse!

Today's Choice Challenge, Choose Fitness, encouraged students to make healthy choices and to exercise! They will definitely CHOOSE FITNESS on Thursday at our Boosterthon Fun Run! Don't forget to wear your Boosterthon t-shirts on Thursday! The Fun Run is a rain or shine event, and the Boosterthon Team, PTA, Foundation, and Administration have worked to create a plan in case of rain. If there is rain, we will hold the Fun run in the cafeteria! Parents are invited to come and cheer for your student! Signs and fun are highly recommended!

Classes are doing a wonderful job of working as TEAMS to achieve goals and earn class incentives! Crazy Hair Day was a huge hit for some classes. Tomorrow, one lucky class gets to have recess with the Boosterthon Team!!!!

Day 4's Choice Challenge was to CHOOSE LEARNING. Students learned about Thomas Edison and how he changed the world through inventions. All of his success began with a desire to read and learn how the world works!

Students are working hard to HELP OUR SCHOOL and get pledges to fund our ENTIRE PTA BUDGET and to benefit the Sope Creek Foundation. This impacts EVERY STUDENT at Sope Creek, providing programs like iXL, Visiting Authors, High-Touch-High-Tech, curriculum support, funds for music, art, PE, & STEM, teacher training, and much, much more!

Day 3 of the Boosterthon was another awesome day at Sope Creek. Today's Choice Challenge was to CHOOSE CHARACTER. Students were introduced to the second Highway Hero, Abraham Lincoln, and his story about how he earned the nickname, "Honest Abe."
They learned that having good character and acting with integrity means doing the right thing even when nobody is looking. Students were challenged to always CHOOSE CHARACTER!
Students have been working the phone lines getting pledges, and classes have worked together to earn
rewards. We have seen many students enjoy stinky feet day, pajama day, popsicle parties, and even party rockin' at dance parties! Rumor has it that at least one teacher will get pied in the face if her class reaches their goal!
Pledges have come in from 43 states and 10 countries!

Thursday was another great Boosterthon day @ Sope Creek! Today's Choice Challenge was to CHOOSE LEADERSHIP! Martin Luther King, Jr. was the Highway Hero highlighted for the way he represented leadership by being bold, setting a good example for others, and using his words to strengthen.
Students are really rallying to HELP OUR SCHOOL! We currently have 1,728 pledges from 40 states and 10 countries!!! Way to go, Sope Creek!
Where does the money go? Proceeds from Boosterthon fund our ENTIRE PTA Budget providing academic enrichment opportunities for every child, staff development for every teacher, support to fun programs such as Art Day & Field Day, funds visits by authors, enhances each of our specials areas with grants, provides teacher grants, funds iXL math online practice for every student, and in-house field trips through High-Touch-High-Tech. Any monies beyond the PTA budget are donated to the Foundation. It is the
mission of the Sope Creek Foundation to provide the funding necessary to
support our school's commitment to academic excellence and student
success.

Wednesday, August 22nd was an exciting day at Sope Creek! Students received their OFFICIAL BOOSTERTHON T-SHIRTS!!! Every student at Sope Creek receives a t-shirt to wear on Thursday, August 30th at the Boosterthon Fun Run! We encourage students to wear them as much as they like between now and then to show their spirit and enthusiasm!!!!
Today was also the first day that every classroom was visited by one of the Boosterthon team members! Students learned about how important it is to work together as a team and to listen carefully to their coaches (teachers).

We are ON THE ROAD TO GOOD CHOICES with this year's Boosterthon about to begin! This year, we will focus on LEADERSHIP * CHARACTER * LEARNING * FITNESS * A GOOD ATTITUDE. The Boosterthon is Sope Creek PTA's biggest fundraiser of the year, and all proceeds fully fund the PTA budget and provide enrichment oppoturnities for every student at Sope Creek. In addition, proceeds also benefit the Sope Creek Foundation.
The Pep Rallies were a HUGE success! We met our Boosterthon Team: Captain Clint, Jumping Josh, Thunder Cat, & Super Annie! We look forward to having them come to classes, teach character lessons tied to historical figures, and to teach us how we can HELP OUR SCHOOL!
Please join us and help our school! Boosterthon funds PTA and Foundation initiatives, provides enrichment for every child, and makes our school a better place!
