Today was the big day when the winner of our year-long Foundation raffle was chosen! Watch the video to see which lucky family won free braces! Thank you, Johnston Orthodontics for your support of our Sope Creek community!
All yearbooks will be distributed to students today. We still have some available to purchase. Please bring $40 cash or check to the office to get your yearbook. There are only a few left, so don't delay. The LAST day to purchase yearbooks will be Thursday, May 21st.
Thank you for your interest in the first ever FAST Summer Camps, unfortunately there was not enough interest for this summer and class minimums were not met. Refunds will be mailed out by Friday, May 22nd. Should you have any questions, please email the Sope Creek FAST Committee at email@example.com.
On Friday, May 8th Martha Whalen was honored by the Cobb School Counselor Association as Administrator of the Year. This prestigious award was given for her outstanding support, leadership, and advocacy in promoting the school counseling program. Under Martha’s leadership, Sope Creek has twice achieved the national “Recognized ASCA Model Program” (RAMP) status for its exemplary counseling program. Congratulations to Martha!
The end of the year is here, so please turn in your Box Tops for Education before summer! Have your child drop them off in the front office in the bin labeled "Box Tops". Thank you to everyone who turned in Box Tops this year, and don't forget you can still help Sope Creek earn CASH by collecting Box Tops this summer. Clip the Box Tops, keep them in a safe place, and turn them in next school year. Have a great break!

As the district prepares for its annual Title III ESOL Monitoring requirements, the International Welcome Center will be hosting an annual Title III Educational Fair on Saturday, May 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This annual educational fair is open to all CCSD parents, students and community members with transportation provided.
As part of the title programs' federal parental notification requirements, please post this information on your school's website. Should you desire additional information, please contact LaShaun Odom or Aldo Lopez at the CCSD International Welcome Center.
Thank you to our coaches, parent volunteers, teachers, and fabulous students for another successful field day! We had perfect weather, a beautiful blue sky, fun, and sportsmanship all day. To top it off, our students were victorious against our staff members in the traditional softball game.
At this time, we are no longer accepting parent placement letters for the 2015-2016 school year. The deadline for submission was April 15th.
The administration takes the placement of students very seriously. In collaboration with guidance counselors, classroom teachers, and specialists, we look at the individual characteristics of each child. We plan balanced classrooms, in consideration of gender, race, culture, language, abilities, and styles.
Please know that this careful consideration happens for each and every one of our students, regardless of the receipt of a parent letter.
Blackboard Connect- This allows the district and Sope Creek to send phone messages, emails, or texts. You choose the way in which you'd like to receive messages. Here at Sope Creek, phone messages are used very infrequently. Most of our "robocalls" are actually robo-emails and robo-texts.
Sope Creek Twitter - This serves as our live feed from our website. As many of you know, feedblitz updates come once a day and usually late at night. Our twitter feed will give you instant notification of any posts to our main school site. Right now, we have 251 followers.
Cobb Schools Twitter - During the recent inclement weather, CCSD was updating to their twitter feed a little faster than the website. They also share a lot of the good news stories occurring in our schools.
Phone Calls - We are rapidly becoming a cell-phone preferred society. However, many times when we call, parents don't answer because they don't recognize our number. Please program the following phone numbers into your cell as "Sope Creek" so we can connect more efficiently:
Websites and Blogs - Our county website is easy to use and hosts a lot of important information. Our Sope Creek main site contains information specific to our community - upcoming school events, contact information for our staff, and links to our teachers' blogs.
Our first graders have been practicing for the big show, and they are excited to share it with you!
Our performance will be Thursday, April 30th following the PTA meeting at 6:30. Here is the important information for you to know!
1. Please have your child here at 6:15. Report to your child's classroom. Be prompt, but not early! Students will not be allowed in the rooms until 6:15!, so DO NOT drop off your child until the teacher is there!
2. Wear class T- shirts!
3. The performance will follow the PTA meeting.
We look forward to sharing our performance with you!
Join us for "How Does Your Garden Groove?" presented by Kindergarten! The show is in the Sope Creek Elementary Cafeteria at 8:30 am on Thursday, May 7th. Students will need to report to their classrooms in jeans, a white shirt, and a bandanna by 7:50 am. We hope to see you there!
Thank you to our many talented and creative volunteers who scheduled such an amazing event for our students. The whole building has been engaged in creativity, performance, and art connections. We are Art-Smart today at Sope Creek!
