Reading - We will continue our study of comprehension strategies such as summarizing, compare/contrast, inferring, and drawing conclusions. We are reading nonfiction texts and learning about informational text features. We will continue our research and informational writing on the regions of Georgia. We are learning about the different plants and animals that live in each region.
Language Arts - We will begin Sort 16 which is adding -ing to words with VCe and VVC patterns such as close - closing and dream- dreaming. We will continue our study of adjectives and articles. We will practice comparing with adjectives, and we will learn that adjectives can tell what kind and how many.
Science - We are learning about the different regions of Georgia. We are making booklets on each region and are continuing our research on plants and animals in each region. We will have a test on Chapter 7 in our Science book on Friday, Feb. 3.
Social Studies - We will continue our study of Mary McLeod Bethune. She was a teacher who started a school for African American girls. She worked throughout her life to make sure women were treated fairly and shared equal rights.
