This Saturday Sope Creek will host our 26th annual Sope Creek 5K and 1 mile Fun Run.   Come run or come cheer on the runners!!!  The students have been working hard to train for this event!  Every penny earned goes directly to our school.

What a fast week in the den.  We are still working hard on double digit addition and subtraction as well as a surprise for our mothers!  We learned all about Johnny Appleseed and John Henry this week, and the lifeskills they showed!  We enjoyed all the persuasive letters sent in from their homework, and I think they have convinced us to have a fun lunch day outside!   On Thursday, we wrote thank you notes to American Girl for sending the beautiful doll for our basket.  We know there is much information coming home and we appreciate everyone for sending the information back in such a timely manner.   If you have not sent it back please do so on Monday. 

Items we need back are:

-Permission slip for our pond study visit

-report card envelope with registration card

-Items for the tea (if you got a note)

Please remember that our Mother’s Day Tea is this Friday (May 9^th) at 8:15.  Each student is work extra hard to make this event very special.  Please come if you can, but if you can’t let us know so we can have another special person fill in for your child. 

The Fun Run is on Saturday and we wish we could be there to cheer on our Bears, but we have other prior engagements that day.  Mrs. DeFoor  will be running with her daughter  in the “Girls on the Run” 5K and Mrs. Bradley has her son’s 2^nd birthday party.  We hope everyone has a fun and safe run, and don’t forget to stop in and see our wonderful American Girl basket!

4/22/11-News From The Den!

 

  
Hello Parents, 

We had a great week in the Den!  We continued to work on double digit addition and subtraction as well as  number order.   Reading groups are going well with a little more homework coming home!  Please try to get this done each night.  If you need an extra night we totally understand, just send a note and letting us know.  We are finishing our animal unit and moving on to Tall Tales.  We will begin with Johnny Appleseed next week. 

Invitations for the Mother's Day Tea will be coming home soon.  Just to let you know it will be from 8:15 to 9:00 on Friday, May 6th.  If you have not sent the save the date back, please do! 

Thank you to Kelly Melnick for organizing the basket for our class.  As a class, we wrote a letter to  American Girl to try and persuade them to donate a doll for our basket.  We are excited to say it worked and they sent the Rebecca doll and book.  We put it together and it looks great!

We hope everyone has a relaxing and fun spring break!   Here are a few reminders for when we get back!  Due to 3^rd through 5^th grades having the CRCT we will have a new lunch and specials time from April 12th through April 18^th.  Lunch will be at 11:07-11:37 and Specials will be 9:45- 10:25.  We will continue Unit 11 in Fundations and have our test on Friday.  We are going to have a visiting author on Wednesday (Eric Litwin), and are looking forward to his performance.    Make sure to send in pictures of mothers with their student for a special project we are starting soon!  They will be returned in our project, so make sure you have extra copies.  We sent a lot of papers home today from the past several weeks.  Remember to read over the break!
