Performance Art:
On March 25, the Sope Creek Community will engage in a GIGANTIC performance art project. That means that every single person will get the opportunity to express themselves in a very unique art form.
You may be wondering, "What is performance art?" It is an art form where the actions of a group at a particular place and in a particular time, make up the work of art. It can happen anywhere, at any time, or for any length of time. Performance art can be any situation that involves four basic elements: time, space, the performer's body and a relationship between the performer and audience. Some famous performance artists cinclude Yoko Ono and Nam June Palk. If you want to learn more about it, click here.
How are you going to be a part of this? Your teacher will ask you to wear a specific color of t-shirt. Be on the lookout for your color assignment!
Jenny Holzer Truisms:
Truisms III - Jenny Holzer is famous for using statements called "truisms" in her art. She uses these words in many ways using technology such as signs or light projected on buildings or landscapes. Enter your truisms in the form below and it may be used during Art Day 2011! To submit your truism, fill out this two question form by clicking here.
Cars - Community Service Project
Every year we try to complete a community service art project. This year we are hoping to construct a Cai Guo Qiang sculpture using toy cars. Cai Guo Qiang is a contemporary Chinese artist who draws on a wide variety of symbols, narratives, traditions, and materials in a very modern way. We're asking students to donate toy cars - slightly used or brand new for an art installation. The more cars we get, the more amazin teh installation! After Art Day, the cars will be donated to Foster Care Support Foundation in Roswell. To learn more about this organization, click here.
