Creating an Animated .gif.

My first try in response a social studies standard:
SS3G1 The student will locate major topographical features of the United States of America.
c. Locate the equator, prime meridian, and lines of latitude and longitude on a globe.

This one was simple to create. Used the circle tool, the paint tool, and then added a shadow to the earth. I then duplicated the background layer several times and added text/the red line one at a time.

Kids should be able to draw much better than this pathetic representation of the earth.

Time to create = less than 10 minutes.

I wanted to use a pre-created image for the next animated gif trial. This one took about 15 minutes to create.

I used a picture from The Library of Congress on Flickr. I searched for Rosie the Riveter, and found MANY different images. The specific image that I used was of a woman operating a hand drill.

Second Try with a Fifth Grade Social Studies Standard:
SS5H6 The student will explain the reasons for America’s involvement in World War II.
e. Describe the effects of rationing and the changing role of women and African- Americans; include “Rosie the Riveter” and the Tuskegee Airmen.

S1L1. Students will investigate the characteristics and basic needs of plants and animals.

c. Identify the parts of a plant—root, stem, leaf, and flower.

I made a plant grow and labeled the parts. I forgot to save the layer fro stem, though, so there is a step missing. Kids would do a much better job than I did.

Time to create = 12 minutes (but realize that I am not a perfectionist when it comes to mouse drawing).
